There are a few places in the American west that are popular beyond belief, and can be visited by almost everyone at anytime. There are other places that are virtually unknown, but are just as amazing or even more so.
The Ruby Mountain Wilderness Area that encompasses the Ruby Mountains in northern Nevada is one of those places. Called the little alps, or the other Sierras it is not the type of mountain range that is typically associated with Nevada.
This picture was taken at Overland Lake in the Ruby Mountains and is only barely able to describe the majesty of these mountains. Visiting here can be difficult, and getting to these lakes takes planning and preparation but is worth it.
This picture was captured just as the sun rose after days of stormy weather. It shows the breaking of the storm and the first golden light to hit the lake and mountains in days. I hope that you enjoy!
