I love places that are far away from civilization. This is an image of one of my favorite places, Ruby Valley, Nevada.
I was backpacking around Overland Lake and one day climbed high above the lake and realized that very menacing storms were gathering in Ruby Valley and headed up canyon to where I was, standing on top of a huge treeless mountain.
Luckily I was able to make this image and a safe retreat before any real wind or storms hit me.
I love this image for the depth you see from being on top of the mountain and looking down to the valley below. It was not really premeditated like some of my images, but like most from the Ruby Mountains Wilderness Area they come together with a character of their own.
