In Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is a gulch or slot canyon that is so narrow that a grown person must turn sideways for much of its length to hike through. This is Spooky Gulch, and yes it is spooky. It is rumored to be named on Halloween by amazed and “spooked” school children.
Visiting this gulch was amazing. Getting an image was difficult. The walls are so narrow that setting up the tripod was the first task that was impossible in many places. Keeping a proper depth of field proved another very difficult task. In the end, I am very happy with this image.
